5th CAIF
KEYNOTE ADDRESS: The Convergence of Private Equity and Activism, and Beyond: Transformative Value Creation Identified Tony Melman
There was a noticeable buzz in the air following the 5th Canadian Alternative Investment Forum—Introduction Capital’s “best ever”—on April 16. Panel moderators dug deep and received some surprising and insightful answers to provocative questions like what inspires managers professionally and motivates them personally. The day kicked off with Opening Remarks by Postmedia Network’s Paul Godfrey who also moderated the first panel of the day, which focussed on real estate. Developer Sam Mizrahi spoke about the purchase of One Bloor Street West and Firm Capital’s Michael Carragher discussed the current mortgage lending landscape.
Other highlights included a panel discussion on philanthropy and client service, tales of first hand experiences from a lively technology panel and the extremely well-received family office panel who provided exceptional knowledge as they shared their thoughts on wealth preservation and investing. Motivational speaker Mike Lipkin gave a powerful presentation on the Five Distinctions of a Wealth Magnet before introducing Acasta Capital’s Tony Melman, the Keynote speaker for the day. Tony spoke about The Convergence of Private Equity and Activism, and Beyond: Transformative Value Creation Identified, and then shared some of his personal and touching experiences during a thoughtful Q & A. Introduction Capital CEO Karen Azlen moderated the final panel of the day, highlighting a select group of managers who were chosen for their noteworthy views and approaches to investing.
Delegates at the sold-out event enjoyed networking during the luncheon and breaks throughout the day as well as during the high-energy evening cocktail reception.
